On the treatment day, you will be asked to arrive with clean, makeup-free skin. A topical numbing cream will be applied 30-45 minutes prior to the treatment area to minimise discomfort and pain. You can expect mild redness and swelling immediately post-procedure, which settles down in the next day or two. Most patients are able to return to normal daily activities right after treatment. Some people may experience fine scabbing due to the microneedling, which is easily concealable and settles down within 5-10 days.The number of treatments needed depends on the condition of the skin and the skin concern being addressed. It is typically advised to do at least 3-4 treatments 4-6 weeks apart, however, this needs to be assessed in the initial consultation
It is advisable to avoid tanning and prolonged sun exposure for two weeks prior to treatment, and to stop retinoids and chemical exfoliators at least 3-5 days before the procedure. Please inform the physician if you are on Accutane or any other medication, or are pregnant or breastfeeding.
After the treatment, it is advisable to refrain from strenuous activities, such as steam saunas and swimming, for the first 72 hours. You will also need to stop any chemical exfoliants, scrubs, and retinoids for the first week post-treatment. Don't scratch the treated area to prevent irritation. It is important to avoid sun exposure and to use SPF and moisturise the skin well to enhance recovery, especially in the first few weeks. Morpheus8® is a microneedling procedure, so some discomfort is expected. However, we advise the use of a numbing cream prior to the treatment to make it more comfortable. Although discomfort may be felt at times, it is certainly bearable with no pain after the procedure. Any sensitivity post-procedure reduces within 24 hours and usually does not require any pain relief.
It is recommended not to wear makeup for up to 24-48 hours. That being said, Morpheus8® has very little downtime compared to other microneedling RF procedures and skin returns to normal as early as the next day in some cases.
